Opening WSL 2: London Bees in April 2014

Use the FA’s contemporary debut report to understand a competition milestone.

The starting point

The FA published a report of Oxford United’s 0–3 defeat by London Bees on April 14, 2014. It is a useful contemporary entry point into the opening WSL 2 season. The report records a particular match; it does not by itself prove how the entire season developed or how every participant later evaluated it.

A useful way to read the evidence

Read the report in two passes. First collect the date, venue, teams, result and competition. Then note the sequence of events and any attributed comments. If a fact is absent, mark it as absent. A short dated report is more useful when its limits are respected than when it becomes a platform for an unsupported account of a whole campaign.

Keep in your notes

  • Record the document date.
  • Separate match facts from season claims.
  • Mark missing information explicitly.
